You might think this is an easy question and say, Bill Gates. Well, you would have been right a year ago, but today the answer is, Warren Buffett. Yes, the owner of the Berkshire Hathaway company and hence, Prudential California Realty, is now the richest man alive.
According to Forbes.com, at an estimated worth of $62 BILLION, Buffett is approximately $4 billion richer than Gates. Gates’ attempt to acquire Yahoo! earlier this year hurt(if it’s possible to hurt a man who’s worth $58 billion) him and dropped him down in the world’s richest man competition.
Buffett’s top rank is primarily due to the recent rise of the Berkshire Hathaway stock, which has increased $10 billion in the last year. Second place is held by Carlos Slim Helu(worth $60 billion), a Mexican telecom mogul and Gates is in third place at $58 billion.
Why does this matter? Well for most of us it doesn’t. But in a time where the economy is slow and companies are going under, it’s good to know that Prudential California Realty is owned by the richest man in the world. Somehow, I don’t see him shutting down San Diego’s best and largest real estate company.
